Sqn Ldr K R Jackson MBE AFC RAF ( Ret) RIP
It is with great sadness I have to report the passing away of Sqn Ldr K R ( Jacko ) Jackson.
Jacko as everyone will be aware is a legend. Born in 1923 Jacko became a Halton apprentice in 1939.
He transferred to aircrew and trained in Rhodesia. He trained on the Spitfire in Egypt and was then posted to the Far East.
After further training in India Jacko was posted to 152 Squadron in Singapore. He then joined XI in Kuala Lumpur before the squadron
transferred to Japan to form part of the Commonwealth Occupation Force . Jacko carried on after the war and as the title of his book relates
he spent " Fifty Two Years in the Cockpit". He has lived with his wife Betty in Woodhall Spa for many years and was a strong supporter of the Squadron and
Association. It was a pleasure as always to see him at our reunion just a few weeks ago. Our thoughts at this time must be with Betty.
The funeral will take place at St Peter's Church, Woodhall Spa on Wednesday 9th June at 1245.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning
We will remember them
